Notes

'Hottentot' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Hottentot') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The semi-double blooms mix lilac and light pink with prominent stamens in several shades. It is a sturdy grower with good stems, but the flowers have no fragrance. W. A. Dana bred it.

Pairs well with Iris, Carlton daffodil, and Sensitive fern.
