Notes

'Illini Chief' peony (Paeonia 'Illini Chief') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Lyman D. Glasscock bred it, and it bears fragrant, single red blooms with orange shading that attract bees and butterflies. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with White Feather hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
