Notes

'Indian Maid' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Indian Maid') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant red flowers have a tint of bright mahogany and look exquisite in bud. Stiff stems hold the blooms upright in mid to late spring. W. A. Dana bred it.

Pairs well with Fringed bleeding heart, Blanket flower, Pink Impression tulip, and Royal fern.
