Notes
'Iron Pastel Mix' stock (Matthiola incana 'Iron Pastel Mix') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. Cool weather suits it, and it can take a light frost. This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Its fragrant blooms open in spring and again in summer, and they attract butterflies, bees, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The plant also tolerates salt.
Pairs well with Bells of Ireland, Balloon flower, and Grape hyacinth.
