Notes

'Israel' peony (Paeonia 'Israel') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, dark red blooms have a yellow center and attract butterflies and bees. William Henry Krekler bred it in 1975. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Pale purple coneflower, Empress Wu hosta, and Sedge.
