Notes

'Empress Wu' hosta (Hosta 'Empress Wu') is a perennial for borders, shade gardens, containers, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. Pale lavender flowers are fragrant and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It spreads 72 to 96 inches, so give it room.

Pairs well with Little Hottie panicle hydrangea, Many Happy Returns peony, and Mount Hood daffodil.
