Notes

Jersey tea (Ceanothus herbaceus) is a shrub for meadow gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average soil of most types. Small white flowers open in dense, rounded clusters from spring into early summer, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit them. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Like others in its genus, it can fix nitrogen from the air.

Pairs well with Blue grama, Dense blazing star, and Evening primrose.
