Notes

Snowbrush (Ceanothus velutinus) is a shrub for woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil. Clusters of fragrant, creamy-white flowers contrast with the dark, sticky, balsam-scented leaves. Too much shade makes it leggy, so give it some sun. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms, and birds eat the seeds.

Pairs well with Ocean spray, Ponderosa pine, Thimbleberry, and Wild geranium.
