Notes

'Jungfrau' tartarian aster (Aster frikartii 'Jungfrau') is a perennial for borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Lilac flowers with yellow centers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It tolerates drought and grows 24 to 36 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Sommerschnee triple-veined pearly everlasting, and Late boneset.
