'K-1' rhubarb (Rheum hybridum 'K-1') is a perennial for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. It grows 24 to 36 inches tall and spreads 24 to 48 inches, so give it room. Rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Flowers appear in late spring and again in early to late summer.
Pairs well with Blush peony, Sensitive fern, and Red elderberry.
