Notes

'Kin-fukurin' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Kin-fukurin') is a shrub for borders and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Tokio Nursery Co. introduced it in 1896. Its woody stems stay through winter, so skip the cut-back you give a perennial bed peony.

Pairs well with Black chokeberry, Big bluestem, and Swamp milkweed.
