Notes
'Kukeni-jishi' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Kukeni-jishi') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large Japanese type flowers have flesh-pink petals with a satin sheen and a tuft of yellow staminodes in the center. They are fairly fragrant and stand stiffly erect on a strong grower with ruffled foliage.
Pairs well with Siberian iris, Little bluestem, Queen of Night tulip, and Garlic chives.
