Notes

'La Vestale' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'La Vestale') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Jacques Calot bred it in 1870. Its tall, compact stems hold lilac white blooms flecked with crimson in early summer. The flowers are fragrant and make good cut blooms.

Pairs well with Purrsian Blue nepeta, Hairy aster, and Tall fescue.
