Notes

'Lady Betty Balfour' clematis (Clematis 'Lady Betty Balfour') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deep blue flowers with violet shading and a white center attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. George Jackman & Son bred it in 1910 from Gipsy Queen and Beauty of Worcester.

Pairs well with Beauty of Cobham spotted beebalm, Alina rose, and Garden phlox.
