Notes
Largeflower heartleaf (Asarum shuttleworthii) is a perennial for ground cover and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average to wet soil. Its evergreen leaves are dark green with whitish green veins and margins, and the flowers hide under them. Plants with long, creeping rhizomes spread and make the best ground covers. Deer tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with May-apple, Korean rock fern, Lady in Red lady fern, and Northern sea oats.
