Notes

'Quicksilver' Chinese wild ginger (Asarum splendens 'Quicksilver') is a perennial for ground cover, shade gardens, woodland settings, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows 6 to 9 inches tall and spreads 9 to 12 inches at a moderate pace. Dark purple to brown flowers open from spring into early summer, and bees visit them.

Pairs well with Autumn fern, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Lady fern.
