Notes

Little brown jug (Asarum arifolium) is a perennial for shade gardens and woodland settings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist soil. The heart-shaped leaves are pale whitish green with dark green veins and margins. They grow up to 8 inches long and stay close to the ground. The plants are slow-growing and stay in isolated clusters, so scatter them among other well-mannered woodland plants.

Pairs well with Wild geranium, Lady fern, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
