Notes

'Leone Gardner' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Leone Gardner') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large double red blooms open in mid to late spring. The strong, rigid stems hold the flowers upright. The color is close to a true red and glows in the twilight when other reds disappear.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Brown-eyed Susan, and Lily of the valley.
