Notes

'Liberator' peony (Paeonia 'Liberator') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, deep crimson flowers turn somewhat purple with age. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it in 1940.

Pairs well with Curly Fries hosta, Dense blazing star, and Switchgrass.
