Notes

Lilac (Syringa pubescens) is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, loamy soil. It grows slowly into a dense mound with fragrant lilac-pink flowers in early to late spring. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms. Deer tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Weigela, Creeping phlox, Lily of the valley, and Pink Impression tulip.
