Notes

'Little Gem' peony (Paeonia 'Little Gem') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, dark red blooms have black shading and a Japanese form, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Lyman D. Glasscock bred it.

Pairs well with Magnus coneflower, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
