Notes

'Little Lanterns' eastern columbine (Aquilegia canadensis 'Little Lanterns') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, containers, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It forms a clumping mound with red and yellow flowers in spring and again in summer. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Lanceleaf coreopsis, Nodding onion, and Prairie dropseed.
