Notes

'Red Columbine' eastern columbine (Aquilegia canadensis 'Red Columbine') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It grows in a clump and blooms from early to late spring, with more flowers in early to late summer. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and birds all visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Nodding onion, Prairie dropseed, PowWow White coneflower, and Blanket flower.
