Notes

Log fern (Dryopteris celsa) is a fern for accents, shade gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. It grows 36 to 48 inches tall and 18 to 30 inches wide at a moderate pace. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Its green fronds add texture to shady beds.

Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Lady fern, and Hornbeam.
