Notes

'Lombard' peony (Paeonia 'Lombard') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Its single deep plum flowers have heavy petals with black flares and attract butterflies in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Prof. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with Obsidian coral bells, Blue fescue, and Primrose.
