Notes

'Longfellow' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Longfellow') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large double flowers open in mid spring in bright crimson with cherry-red shading and golden yellow stamens at the center. The color does not fade, and strong stems hold the blooms well for cutting.

Pairs well with Aromatic aster, Royal fern, and Black Hero tulip.
