Notes

'Lord Burghley' apple (Malus domestica 'Lord Burghley') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Mr Matheson, gardener to the Marquis of Exeter, bred it in 1865. The fruit ripens late and keeps for 3 months or more. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second apple nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Plum, Snowberry, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
