Notes
'Lovebirds' peony (Paeonia 'Lovebirds') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large, fragrant blooms open pale blush pink on strong stems, and the carpels intertwine like lovebirds at play. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Smetana introduced it in 1994.
Pairs well with PowWow White coneflower, Stained Glass hosta, and Nodding onion.
