Notes
'Maid Marion' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Maid Marion') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Medium pink, cupped blooms open in late spring with red carpels in a ball of yellow at the center. Fine veins give the petals a brushed look, and strong stems hold the flowers up. Melvin Pees bred it in 1984.
Pairs well with Lupine, Ostrich fern, and Queen of Night tulip.
