Notes
'Major Loder' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Major Loder') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its large Japanese type flowers are Tyrian pink and open early. The center holds yellowish staminodes that make no pollen. Kelway bred it, and the medium size plant spreads.
Pairs well with Wild ginger, Black Parrot tulip, and Spanish bluebell.
