Notes

'Marie' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Marie') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large double flowers open in late spring to early summer and have a light fragrance. Jacques Calot bred it. Strong stems hold the blooms upright on tall plants with dark foliage.

Pairs well with Royal fern, Scentara Double Blue lilac, and Spanish bluebell.
