Notes

'Marie Sass' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Marie Sass') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double flowers are dark pink, almost red, and open in late spring. The blooms are dense and smooth. Hans Peter Sass bred it in 1955.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Black Hero tulip, and Virginia rose.
