Notes
'Matador’s Robe' peony (Paeonia 'Matador’s Robe') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The ruffled, rich red flowers are fragrant and open early, with one bud per stem. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Roy G. Klehm bred it.
Pairs well with Creeping phlox, Nodding onion, Little bluestem, and Polish Spirit clematis.
