Notes

'Matilda Lewis' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Matilda Lewis') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, double blooms are dark maroon and open in mid to late spring. Bright sun can turn the flowers black, so part sun may help keep the color. Professor Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with Great blue lobelia, Sedge, and Scentara Double Blue lilac.
