Notes
'Maybelle' suksdorf's large camas (Camassia leichtlinii 'Maybelle') is a bulb for borders, naturalized areas, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil. Tall spires carry star-shaped, deep blue flowers with a hint of purple and yellow anthers from early to late spring. C. van der Veek bred it. Camas grows in soil that is wet in winter and dry in summer, so it handles clay-heavy soil.
Pairs well with Glory-of-the-snow, Sego lily, and Prairie junegrass.
