Notes
'Merlot' eastern redbud (Cercis 'Merlot') is a tree for specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. It bears purple-pink flowers in early to mid spring. It sits low on the menu for deer. It grows 144 to 180 inches tall and 144 to 180 inches wide, so give it room.
Pairs well with Fountain grass, Spiderwort, and Gladiolus.
