Notes

'Hearts of Gold' Texas redbud (Cercis canadensis 'Hearts of Gold') is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Reddish-purple flowers open in spring and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It has a multi-stemmed habit and grows at a moderate rate.

Pairs well with Witch hazel, Oakleaf hydrangea, and Autumn fern.
