Notes

'Ace of Hearts' Texas redbud (Cercis canadensis 'Ace of Hearts') is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It grows as a multi-stemmed tree with reddish-purple blooms in spring, and bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit them. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Give it room, since it can spread 10 to 15 feet wide.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Little bluestem, and Witch hazel.
