Notes

'Metechi' garlic (Allium sativum 'Metechi') is a bulb grown for huge bulbs with a hot, spicy flavor. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Plant it in fall and harvest in late summer. Each bulb holds 5 to 8 cloves and stores 6 to 7 months.

Pairs well with Chinese mustard, Zucchini, and Red fescue.
