Notes

'Mickelson' pond cypress (Taxodium distichum 'Mickelson') is a tree for specimen planting and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It has a broad shape and grows at a moderate rate. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Birds visit the tree, and it tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Cardinal flower, Spicebush, Cinnamon fern, and Sweet pepperbush.
