Notes

'Nutans' pond cypress (Taxodium distichum 'Nutans') is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It has a broad shape, grows at a moderate rate, and tolerates drought and salt. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Birds visit it, and the foliage turns color in fall.

Pairs well with Virginia sweetspire, Hardy hibiscus, Ostrich fern, and Sedge.
