Notes

'Midnight Magnolia' peony (Paeonia 'Midnight Magnolia') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The off white flowers have black centers and open from early to late spring. Derek Irvine bred it, and butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Blue-eyed grass, and Big bluestem.
