Notes
'Monsieur Martin Cahuzac' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Monsieur Martin Cahuzac') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its double, maroon-crimson blooms have a silky, black luster and open in mid spring. Many gardeners call it the darkest peony. The stems are stiff and erect, and the flowers have no fragrance.
Pairs well with Black Hero tulip, Blue grama, and Fragrant sumac.
