Notes

'Moonlit Castle Ruins' peony (Paeonia 'Moonlit Castle Ruins') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The large cream flowers have small dark maroon-red flares, open in early to late spring, and attract butterflies. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It is easy to grow, but grafting and division rarely work well.

Pairs well with Hardy geranium, Big bluestem, and Flowering quince.
