Notes

'Morris Berd' smooth phlox (Phlox glaberrima 'Morris Berd') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clump 18 to 24 inches tall with fragrant rose to reddish-purple flowers that open in spring and again in summer. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Blue flag, Little bluestem, and Royal fern.
