Notes
'NCHA2' smooth hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens 'NCHA2') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It grows at a rapid pace into a clumping shrub up to 48 inches tall and wide. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it, and it tolerates salt.
Pairs well with Sensitive fern, Northern bayberry, and Spanish bluebell.
