Notes
'NCHA5' smooth hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens 'NCHA5') is a shrub for borders, pollinator gardens, and woodland or shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast, forms a clumping mound, and tolerates salt. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit its white blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Sensitive fern, Spanish bluebell, and Dutchman's breeches.
