Notes
'Nightingale' peony (Paeonia 'Nightingale') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, dark red flowers are semi-double and fragrant, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Lyman D. Glasscock bred it in 1964.
Pairs well with Fragrant Bouquet hosta, Nodding onion, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Polish Spirit clematis.
