Notes
'Nigrescens' mondo grass (Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens') is a perennial for borders, containers, rock gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays evergreen, grows slowly, and forms a clump about 9 to 12 inches tall and wide. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Pink flowers appear on the clumps.
Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Magnus coneflower, Oakleaf hydrangea, and Red spider lily.
