Notes
'Nippon Splendor' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Nippon Splendor') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deep red Japanese type flowers open in early summer with heavy yellow markings in the center. Edward Auten, Jr bred it, and the tall plant stands well in a border.
Pairs well with Aromatic aster, Kentucky bluegrass, and Garlic chives.
